Database Creation

Team Services, Inc. built from the ground up a database that allowed the management of technicians, as well as allowed them to access and upload pictures and survey information to as they worked while out in the field. This database software greatly helped the project to be efficiently managed and allowed those involved with the project to more easily access the information sent in by the technicians.

Our customer had given us all of the specifications they needed to see captured in a survey of over 1,000 locations. Given that knowledge, we successfully built a custom database that incorporated the client’s specifications as well as managed the uploading of photography directly from the field technicians that were assigned to the project.

The customer was then able to receive reports of locations that were being completed and review the information that they needed. This database also allowed the customer to generate reports based on the data that was entered, allowing them to filter for certain aspects that they needed. This helped organize the data that was captured and better utilize the project’s goals.

Having the mobile capability to complete surveys and capture data directly from the field was a key component to saving costs and minimizing the time needed to complete tasks. Similar projects undertaken by other companies are typically completed using lengthy spreadsheets, sending emails, and is a much slower process. They may also require the use of data entry employees who receive data only after a technician has already left a location, and enter in the same information - creating a double effort. This is avoided by having a single database that handles all aspects of a project from data entry to reporting.

Customized databases allow information to be captured in the way the customer wants it. Any type of data can be used, whether for a small project or as a complete management system. This allows the information to be used and manipulated for many types of tasks required by project managers, upper management, or even billing departments.
